Skin / Scar Camouflage

The scar camouflage technique can help to camouflage scars, burns, birthmarks and other skin imperfections resulting from surgeries and injuries. If you have experienced an injury that has left you with an unsightly scar, you would be an ideal candidate for this procedure.

Surgical procedures on the breast can create a scar if they require an incision at or around the edge of the areola. The scar that is left is called a peri-areolar scar. Some breast surgeries also create a vertical scar from the nipple through the lower portion of the breast that may need to be camouflaged.  It often has a skin smoothing effect on the scars as well, due to the break up of scar tissue.

Scar Camouflage can be successful in minimizing the appearance of scars from surgical breast procedures as: Breast Augmentation or Enlargement (Augmentation Mammoplasty); Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammoplasty); Breast Lift (Mastopexy); and Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia).

Other surgical procedures where Scar Camouflage can be successful in minimizing the appearance of scars include:

  • Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
  • Mastectomy (Removal of Breast Tissue)
  • Mohs Surgery (Removal of Skin Cancer)
  • Face Lift
  • Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)
  • Otoplasty (Ear Surgery)
  • Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)
  • Liposuction
  • Hair Transplant
  • C-Section (Caesarean Section)
  • Hysterectomy (Removal of Uterus)
  • Thyroidectomy (Removal of Thyroid Gland)
  • Trauma Scars (Resulting from Injuries or Accidents)

It is important to note that not all scars can be fully camouflaged and results may vary depending on the type, age, and severity of the scar, as well as the individual's skin type and healing response.

The first step is to select the proper color. Then there is a small test patch done to see if the color takes as anticipated. If, in the follow up visit the test is satisfactory, then the procedure may be completed. You will return in 4-6 weeks for a follow-up visit to determine if additional color is needed to perfect the procedure.

Scars are very tricky to anticipate. Test patches are done to determine how receptive the scar is to the color, and what the final color will be. A scar cannot just be correctly "colored" on the initial visit. Getting it right is a process that will take more than one visit. The only scars that can successfully be camouflaged are scars that are lighter than the surrounding skin tone. Scars that are raised or Keloids, dark red or purple scars, and scars that are less than 9 months old cannot be treated. Some individual skin types are not good candidates for the scar camouflage process. A personalized consultation will determine if this process is indicated for your situation.

For the actual full scar camouflage procedure, the process may take anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour depending on the size and nature of the scar.

It is a form of tattoo, although different techniques and pigments are used.

The pigment used in scar camouflage contains Titanium Dioxide. This is an opaque white pigment base that cannot be lasered. It can turn the pigment black. You simply need to inform your laser technician that you have had scar camouflage and they will avoid direct contact between the laser and the scar.

Unlike many technicians that re-use or sterilize (via an autoclave) the various components of their equipment, we use all pre-packaged, sterile and disposable needles and needle casings. With the highly technologically advanced digital implantation system used at Newport Permanent Makeup, we use medical-grade needles that are encased in a special permanent cartridge. This patented cartridge system contains an internal diaphragm that prevents any bodily fluids and airborne contaminants from entering into the system. This ensures that you will receive the safest, most sterile form of cosmetic tattooing available. In addition, all of your procedures are done under Federal OSHA standards that regulate the sterile, safe and healthy practices for prevention of cross-contamination from person to person.

Usually there is minimal sensitivity and minimal discomfort. A topical anesthesic is available if desired to help numb the area to be treated. Most scars are not pain sensitive. The additional factor to consider is that the ingredients in most topical anesthetics cause a “blanching” effect of the surrounding skin tone due to the constriction of blood vessels during the numbing phase. This can make it more difficult to see the scar and its surrounding border areas. It is favorable to avoid topical anesthetic unless there is major discomfort to the client.

3D Nipple / Areola Tattoo

3D areola/nipple tattooing is a specialized tattooing technique that creates the appearance of a three-dimensional areola and nipple on the breast. This technique is often used to restore the natural appearance of the breast after breast reconstruction surgery, or to enhance the appearance of the areola/nipple for aesthetic reasons.

If you've undergone breast reconstruction surgery, 3D areola/nipple tattooing can help restore a natural look to your breast and improve your self-confidence. It can also be a great option for anyone who wants to enhance the appearance of their areola/nipple, whether it's to correct asymmetry or to add more definition.

During the procedure, I use a specialized tattoo machine to create a natural-looking areola/nipple using a range of pigments and shading techniques. The result is a three-dimensional, realistic appearance that complements the rest of your breast and blends seamlessly into your skin.

Topical numbing cream may be used to minimize any discomfort during the procedure. While everyone's pain tolerance is different, most clients find the procedure to be relatively painless.

The entire process usually takes around two to three hours, but the exact time will depend on your specific needs and goals.

We will get to know you! We want to know your specific wants and needs. We’ll discuss your medical background, any concerns you have, and discuss your wishes for color/shape/size.  We will then schedule your appointment with the specialist.

Anesthesia is not necessary for areola tattooing. A topical anesthetic may be given to assure your comfort. An ice pack applied to the treatment site can also have a soothing effect.

The tattoo pigments used for your areola tattooing treatment are long-lasting, but that does not mean they will last forever. If fading occurs, you may wish to return for a follow-up treatment. The process for touch-ups will be similar to the initial treatment, but may be shorter.

Yes, when performed by a trained professional using sterile equipment and high-quality pigments, 3D areola/nipple tattooing is a safe procedure. As a professional, I follow all safety protocols to ensure that my clients receive safe and effective treatments.

Vitiligo Camouflage

Micropigmentation can be a very effective solution for camouflaging vitiligo. The pigments used can be matched to the surrounding skin color, so the white patches are less noticeable. Micropigmentation can also help to create a more even skin tone, which can improve a person's self-confidence.

Micropigmentation is generally safe for people with vitiligo, but it's important to work with a trained and experienced professional who understands the specific needs of people with this condition. The procedure should only be performed on healthy skin and a thorough consultation should be done beforehand to ensure the best possible outcome.

The longevity of micropigmentation for vitiligo camouflage can vary depending on factors like the person's skin type and the location of the treatment. Generally, the pigments can last for several years before a touch-up is needed. It's important to protect the treated area from sun exposure and use a high SPF sunscreen to prolong the longevity of the pigments.

The cost of micropigmentation for vitiligo camouflage can vary depending on factors like the location and size of the area being treated, as well as the experience and qualifications of the professional performing the procedure. It's important to schedule a consultation to discuss pricing and any other questions or concerns you may have.

Scalp Micropigmentation

Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-invasive hair restoration technique that uses tiny, precise dots of pigment to create the illusion of hair follicles on the scalp. This technique is often used to address hair loss, thinning hair, or to add density to the scalp.

If you're experiencing hair loss or thinning hair, scalp micropigmentation can help you achieve the appearance of a fuller, thicker head of hair. This technique can also be used to camouflage scars on the scalp and create the look of a closely-cropped buzz cut for men who prefer a shaved head look.

During the procedure, I use a specialized tattoo machine to apply tiny, precise dots of pigment to the scalp. The pigment is carefully matched to your existing hair color to ensure a natural-looking result. The process typically takes two to three sessions to complete.

The entire process usually takes two to three sessions, each lasting two to four hours, depending on your specific needs and goals.

We use a topical numbing cream to minimize any discomfort during the procedure. While everyone's pain tolerance is different, most clients find the procedure to be relatively painless.

The longevity of the treatment will depend on your skin type, lifestyle, and how well you care for the treated area. However, most clients can expect the treatment to last for several years before needing a touch-up.

After the procedure, I will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to ensure that the treated area heals properly and the color lasts as long as possible. You will need to avoid certain activities and products for the first few days, but after that, you can treat the area like you would treat any other part of your body.

The Scalp Micropigmentation treatment typically takes 2-4 hours per session depending on your degree of hair loss. Most clients can expect between 2-4 sessions to complete their treatment depending on the extent of hair loss or scarring. These treatments are usually spaced about 10-20 days apart.

After completion of your treatment (2-4 sessions) a client should expect the strength of the color to last for many years. Over a longer term, a client will very gradually begin to notice slight lightening (not discolor) of the treatment. When this occurs they can undergo a brief “touch up” session to restore any fading and secure many more years of their style.

Scalp micropigmentation has become such an effective hair loss solution because of its consistently natural and undetectable results. Scalp micro pigmentation technique seamlessly replicates each individual hair follicle to create a perfect match for each client.

Scalp micropigmentation is non-invasive and requires no down time. In most cases, you will not need to take any extended time away from work, school, or other functions. After treatment it is common to notice slight redness on the scalp for 2-3 days post session. This redness subsides quickly and most clients return to work either right away or within a couple days. Clients are also allowed to wear hats or headwear should they feel the need.

Depending upon the pattern and extent of the thinning hair, some clients are able to maintain a longer length of hair. Scalp pigmentation can help thicken areas so that less of the scalp is seen showing through. However, if there is a strong pattern of hair loss or just not a lot of hair density left, the client is recommended to crop it shorter.

Yes, those with gray hair can still benefit from the scalp micropigmentation procedure. First, most clients are recommended to cut their hair to a short buzzed length. When this is done, gray hair does not appear as gray because the hair root itself is darker. Hair only shows gray as it gets longer. Second, we use a gray-scale pigment that can be adjusted in shade to blend with lighter hair tones. We simply create a lighter dilution for blending into the existing gray hairs.

Yes! By replicating tiny hair follicles inside the scarring and blending the color around the scarring area, transplant and surgical scars can see massive improvement in concealment.

Yes! We are able to match the shade of our pigment to a wide range of skin tones. Whether you are Caucasian, African-American, Hispanic, Asian, or Pacific Islander and much more...scalp micropigmentation can work for you.

We recommend no heavy sweating or intense exercise for 4-5 days after your scalp micropigmentation treatment.

For most clients, the pain minimal and it's consistently less painful than traditional tattoos. After your session, you won't experience any further discomfort.

Scalp Micropigmentation is used to add density to thinning areas. We are able to add thickness to areas common areas like the crown, hair parting and more. For people that are using scalp micropigmentation to rebuild their hairline, we recommend keeping your hair short for a more balanced look.

Gender Affirmation

Gender affirmation tattoo is a type of tattoo that is designed to help individuals express their gender identity or affirm their transition. It can be used to create or enhance features that align with a person's gender identity or to cover up scars or other marks that may be a source of dysphoria.

There are many different designs that can be used for gender affirmation tattoos, depending on the individual's needs and preferences. Some common designs include tattoos that mimic natural hairlines, chest masculinization or feminization tattoos, tattoos to create or enhance the appearance of nipples, and tattoos to cover up scars or marks.

Anyone who is looking to express their gender identity or affirm their transition may benefit from gender affirmation tattoo. This can include transgender and non-binary individuals, as well as cisgender individuals who may have scars or marks that are a source of discomfort or dysphoria.

Like any tattoo, gender affirmation tattoo can be uncomfortable or painful depending on the location and the individual's pain tolerance. However, most people find that the pain is manageable and that the benefits of the tattoo outweigh any discomfort.

The process for getting a gender affirmation tattoo will vary depending on the individual's needs and preferences, as well as the tattoo artist's experience and expertise. Typically, the process will involve a consultation to discuss the individual's goals and to create a design that aligns with their vision. The tattoo artist will then apply the tattoo using a needle and ink, taking care to ensure that the design is as accurate and aesthetically pleasing as possible.

The cost of gender affirmation tattoo will vary depending on factors like the location of the tattoo, the size and complexity of the design, and the experience and expertise of the tattoo artist. It's important to discuss pricing during the consultation process and to make sure that the cost is within your budget.

Like any tattoo, there are some risks associated with gender affirmation tattoo, including infection, allergic reactions, and scarring. It's important to choose a reputable tattoo artist who uses proper sterilization techniques and to follow all aftercare instructions to minimize the risk of complications.
